X-Men Origins: Wolverine

x-men

Welcome to the X-Men Origins: Wolverine page, where you can get a behind the scenes look at the movie set to release May 1, 2009. Since the X-Men films are going back to their origins I thought I’d go back to mine – these are the X-Men I grew up with. So let’s cross our fingers and hope X-Men Origins: Wolverine doesn’t suck like the previous X-Men movies, especially X-Men: The Last Stand – all that hype and such a colossal disappointment.

Unfinished Version Leaked

EW Hollywood Insider has an article up about the unfinished version of Wolverine that was leaked onto the internet.

Twentieth Century Fox chairman, Tom Rothman, experienced every studio chief’s worst nightmare when the unedited, unfinished, and shorter version of the movie with no added special effects was leaked onto the internet for users to download at will. Rothman said, “It’s a complete misrepresentation of the film and is deeply unfair to the people who have worked on it for years.” Fox and the FBI are confident that the perpetrates will be apprehended quickly.

There’s no way to tell how much financial damage the leak has caused but Rothman “insists that both he and Hugh Jackman have vowed to stop at nothing to get the movie out to as many fans as possible – Basically, we’re not going to let the bastards win.”

20th Century Fox has launched a new Weapon X game application on facebook and myspace in honor of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Your mission? To take on the role of a Weapon X geneticist and create the ultimate soldier! After formulating a genetic code for your mutant, you’ll send him or her to face off against others until the strongest remain standing! You can also collect points and new powers that will help along the way” (Marvel).

To clear up some casting confusion, Dominic Monaghan (Lord of the Rings, Lost) will not be playing Barnell/Beak in X-Men Origins: Wolverine but he will instead play Chris Bradley/Bolt.

The character Chris Bradley can control and manipulate electricity and goes by the aliases of “Bolt” and “Maverick II.”

Regardless of who he is actually playing, we’ll finally get to see the illusive Dominic Monaghan in exactly one week.

The highly anticipated X-Men Origins: Wolverine has hit theaters, grossing $35 million on opening day. The movie boasts some favorite mutants from the comics, but the central focus is on Wolverine so they are not featured as prominently as fans would hope. Overall, the explosive action of the movie kicks off the summer movie season, and is definitely worth seeing (be sure to stick around after the credits). Since I don’t want to spoil the movie for anyone who has not seen it yet, look for a critical review of X-Men Origins: Wolverine coming next week.
